Pleasure Craft License Wood Buffalo
If your vessel has an engine of 7.5 kW/10 horsepower and you plan on only using it for pleasure, recreation, and the like, then you can apply for a pleasure craft license. In this context, “pleasure” and “recreation” mean “not in a commercial capacity.” You are not using your vessel to make money, or for business/commercial purposes.
Should your vessel have an engine with less power than that and you plan on using it for pleasure, then you can choose to apply for a Pleasure Craft License. You are not required to do so.
New Pleasure Craft License

Provisional Certificate
A provisional Certificate of Registry, while non-mandatory, is valid for up to six months. You can apply for this if you have submitted all of your vessel documentation yet an appointment tonnage measurer has not submitted the right tonnage documents for your vessel.

Mortgage
Form 7 – Mortgage serves as an application to begin the process for a marine mortgage. Remember: registration is a requirement for a Canadian marine boat mortgage.
Discharge of Mortgage
You must file a discharge of mortgage, to remove that mortgage from the vessel registry, once you’ve paid your mortgage off. Include the original Form 7 – Mortgage alongside it.
Alterations
If information on your vessel’s registration changed, such as its tonnage measurements, length, breadth, depth, descriptor, and horsepower/engine size, then you must complete an Application for Alterations, found here.
Bare-Boat Chartered Vessels
Form 18 – Application for Bareboat Charter Registry makes it possible to lease your commercial vessel to another party. These forms, as with all of our others, can be utilized throughout Wood Buffalo as well as all throughout Canada.
Transmission on Death/Bankruptcy
A vessel owner’s shares have to be transferred in the vessel’s registry in the event the owner of a registered vessel passes on. An owner’s vessel shares must be transferred to a trustee in the event the owner goes bankrupt. Form 8 – Declaration of Transmission is the appropriate form in both circumstances.
Deletion
If a vessel has wrecked, been removed from service, or lost, then it can be removed from the Canadian Register of Vessels with a deletion certificate. This is also the appropriate form should you opt for a pleasure craft license for your vessel or sell it to a foreign citizen. Should there be a mortgage on your vessel, it cannot be voluntarily closed.
