Regina Vessel Documentation

Below are our forms for Regina boat registration as well as licensing. You can complete these forms for the Canadian Registry of Vessels, the Small Vessel Registry, and to license your pleasure craft. Each of these forms are valid in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island as well as the rest of Canada.

Regina Boat Registration

To be eligible for Transport Canada boat registration, a commercial vessel must have a gross tonnage of 15 or more as well as an engine of 7.5kW/10 horsepower. Canadian vessel registration makes it possible for a vessel to have a marine mortgage, a reserved name, and for the owner to travel with it outside of Canadian waters.

There is no “Regina boat registration,” as this registration is federal and thus valid for all of Canada.

First-Time Canadian Vessel Registration

Utilize this form for your initial boat registration in Regina as well as the rest of the country. Only use this form for initial Canada boat registration, and not for renewal, replacement, and so forth.

Mortgage

A registered vessel in Canada is eligible for a marine mortgage. Apply for one using Form 7 – Mortgage.

Discharge of Mortgage

Upon paying off your mortgage, a “Discharge of Mortgage” form can remove your mortgage from the registry. When you send this form in, send along your Form 7 – Mortgage as well.

Historical Research

A vessel search by name and number can be conducted on vessels that have been registered in Canada dating back to the year 1787. Information will be sent on microfilm for a Canadian boat registry search that involves registered vessels from the years of 1904 and 1984.

Transcripts

This Certified Transcript of Vessel form provides information on registered vessels in Regina, and all throughout the rest of the country. Information on a vessel transcript can include whether there are or were any encumbrances/mortgages, the expiration date of a certificate of registration, a boat’s port of registry, information on the current owner as well as prior owners (if there were any), the vessel’s name, who built it, where, and so forth.

Deletion

Complete this Deletion Certificate if you sell your boat to a foreign citizen, have applied for a pleasure craft license, as well as if your vessel was lost, wrecked, or otherwise removed from service. Each of those is a valid reason to pursue a Certificate of Deletion Vessel.

Registration of a Government Vessel

For federal as well as provincial entities to complete successful registration of a government vessel, complete Form 17 – Application for the Registration of a Government Ship, Under the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, Subsection 46.

Provisional Certificate

While not mandatory, Canadian boat builders as well as vessel owners may want to complete Form 9 – Application for Provisional Certificate of Registry. Specifically, a provisional certificate of registry may be appropriate for Canadian boat builders who wish to perform sea trials and vessel owners who have already submitted their vessel documentation forms but are still waiting for tonnage measurements to be sent in by a tonnage measurer.

Alterations

If there were changes to your registered vessel, such as its engine size/horsepower, breadth, length, tonnage measurements, and/or depth, utilize this application for alterations of a registered vessel form. This is not the form to change ownership, to change a boat name, and so forth.

Change of Vessel Name and/or Transfer of Port of Registry

This is the form to complete for how to rename a boat. With this application for a change of name of ship and/or transfer of port of registry, you will be able to update your registration and thus stay in compliance with the authorities.

Bare-Boat Chartered Vessel

During bareboat charters in Canada, your commercial vessel will be leased to another party in Regina or anywhere else. Form 18 – Application for Bareboat Charter Registry makes it possible for you to legally extend utter control and possession of your vessel to a charterer.

Transmission on Death/Bankruptcy

Form 8 – Declaration of Transmission establishes who the vessel will go to should the owner pass away and go bankrupt. This Declaration of Transmission can go a long way towards establishing a chain of succession.

Transfer of Ownership

For legal, registered boat transfer in Canada, use this form. This form successfully covers a boat transfer of ownership in Regina as well as throughout the rest of the country.

Pleasure Craft License

A vessel that will only be used for pleasure (recreation/fun) and has an engine of 10 horsepower/7.5kW is eligible for a Canadian pleasure craft license. This Canada boat license precludes the possibility that a vessel would be eligible for a marine mortgage or have a reserved name.

A boat owner can apply for this Canada boat license if their engine is less than 10 horsepower/7.5kW and they plan on using the vessel for pleasure (recreation/fun). This is not mandatory, however. There is a 90-day grace period from the purchase of the vessel. In this time, the vessel’s new owner has to carry documentation that has the purchase date as well as their name and address.

First-Time Pleasure Craft Licensing

This is the form for the initial application for a Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Licence. These forms are valid in Regina as well as all throughout Canada.

Pleasure Craft License Renewal

Every ten years, pleasure craft licence renewal is necessary. With this form, you can renew a pleasure craft licence in Regina.

Pleasure Craft License Transfer

This is the proper form to apply for Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Transfer of Ownership. Use this form if you’ve been wondering “how do I transfer ownership of a pleasure craft?” Only use this form to transfer a pleasure craft license, and not to update other vessel information.

Pleasure Craft Licence Duplicate

A duplicate of pleasure craft license can come in handy if you’ve dealt with a lost boating license. To stay in compliance with the authorities, your Canada pleasure craft license cannot be lost, mutilated, and so forth.

Pleasure Craft License Update

Update information on your pleasure craft licence with this “Update Pleasure Craft Licence” form.
